Firm your buttocks
Buttock lift, also known as gluteoplasty, is indicated in cases in which there has been a rapid weight loss following a gastric bypass or other types of bariatric procedures for instance, resulting in a significant sagging area. Stretching the skin on the buttocks, while eliminating the excess fat, will give back an improved contour and smoothness to the skin. A butt lift should be considered when the patient has reached a desired weight.
A buttock lifting can be combined with a standard tummy tuck. This combination is called circumferential tummy tuck or extended tummy tuck or belt lipectomy or “body lift”. A buttock lifting can also be combined with a thigh lift and/or with a buttock augmentation. A butt lift may flatten the buttocks so it may be combined with a buttock augmentation to provide more volume.
The procedure: The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and takes about 2 hours. The length of the surgery can vary depending on whether the butt lift is combined with another procedure. The surgeon will make an incision at the level of the waist or just below on the “bikini line”. The size of the incision varies depending on the amount of skin to be removed. The surgeon will remove the extra skin and then pull up the skin to its new position, before stitching. The procedure will improve the contour of the buttocks.
The recovery process: The patient will spend one night at the clinic. The stitches are removed after 7 days. Strong bandages are applied on the incisions to reduce the bruising and to improve the body shape. Patients are able to resume normal activities after 2 weeks and results are visible after a month.
