Get rid of the unwanted fat
Liposuction, also known as liposculpture, is a surgical cosmetic procedure that consists of removing unwanted fat accumulated in certain parts of the body. A cannula connected to a tube is introduced under the skin via a small incision, the fat is detached mechanically using the canula and sucked out through the tube. No matter how much exercise you do, some pockets of fat can be very tough to remove. Liposuction can be performed in almost any areas of the body: stomach, breasts, back, thighs, knees, neck or arms. Liposuction is often combined with a tummy tuck procedure for patients having lost a significant amount of weight, or post-pregnancy.
A liposuction removes the fat located between the skin and the muscles, but the cellulite. Cellulite is the fat trapped inside the skin tissues. To remove the cellulite, the best treatment is Cellulaze®
The procedure: A liposuction is a fairly simple procedure and consist of inserting a long steel tube or canula through a small incision. This canula is connected to a powerful suction pump that literally sucks out the fat. The surgeon will rapidly move the tube backward and forward to detach the fat from the skin and facilitate its removal. The procedure can take from one to three hours depending on the amount of fat to be removed.
The recovery process: The patient may stay from 0 to 2 nights at the clinic, depending on the amount of fat removed. In general, a small liposuction (one hour procedure focusing on one area) does not require to stay at the clinic for the night. However, a large liposuction (a procedure of 3 hours or more focusing on various body areas) will require to stay at the clinic for 2 nights. After the surgery the area treated is firmly maintained with a strong bandage to avoid bruising and to improve the body shape. People are usually able to resume normal activities after 2 to 4 weeks depending on the type of liposuction.
